NSRFC v. Wolfhounds C's/Dinos

39-9

NSRFC started the 2004 season off in the best manner possible, by
beating the very experienced squad of Wolfhound/Dinos by a score of
39-9. On a clear fast day on the GEAA field the wolfhounds were the
first to put points on the board by converting on a penalty from
distance of forty yards out. North Shore responded with a flurry of
scores that helped keep their opposite number pinned on their side of
the field playing defense for most of the game.

As has been the case in most of North Shores recent matches, fitness and
intensity were the bright spots of the win while sometimes suspect hands
among both the backs and forwards ruined a few scoring opportunities.

Scoring for North Shore:

Chad Horn (2): The first on a breakaway in which he had to leap and
stretch to cross the line. The second on a feed from Scott as he flew
down the field.

Martin Mahoney: Give credit to the pack on this one. The big push
created the opportunity to score from he five meter line.

Mark Swan: Bursting through the line and faking and juking his way
for a score

Dan Donato: Going up for a bouncing ball in the mist of the wolfhound
defense and coming down with the ball and a score

Rich DePiero: Scoring on...what else one of his patented kick and chase
moves. (Plus one penalty kick and making the points after that were not
directly in front of the posts)

Oh, and ask Ken about his new nickname "the red spear". Trust me he
loves to talk about it.

B side DIV game

NSRFC Loss

31-45

The B game was a back and forth battle with scores from all over on both
sides of the ball. The Dino's proved to have the edge as they held off
a flurry of second half scores to win the game. Playing especially well
was Mr. Brewer with a pair of scores for the home side.

Thanks go out to all those who came out in support of the team and drank
my beer while I played the B game. The post match festivities at Boston
Street were, as always, memorable with Scott gaining man of the match
honors as Zack downed his two shots of turkey with the Dino captain.
Other highlights includes Liam leading the bar in a round of America the
Beautiful, Mr. Dole and co, trying to drink the bar dry and Scott/Mouth
showing us why he gained his nickname.
