North Shore RFC 0 Harvard Business School 46

Saturday September 21, 2002

In a match that began with even play and spirited play from both teams, the
North Shore Steamers fell to to Harvard Business School in an ultimately
lopsided result.

The first twenty minutes saw a score and a penalty conversion by Harvard for
an 8-0 lead. Unfortunately, after those twenty minutes play was interrupted
by what seemed to be a devastating injury to Sammy Benson. Get well soon Sammy..

For the remainder of the first half, the score remained relatively close,
with Harvard scoring a few more times to widen the gap.

Over the course of the second half, undisciplined penalties to North Shore
and some sloppy play allowed Harvard to score many a try.

As has been the case in each game thus far, North Shore had periods of
strong play during the game, but could not sustain that level of play.
Improvements were seen in a few areas: the containment of backline overlaps,
appropriate numbers being committed to rucks, and to some extent tactical
decision making.

It may be starting to sound like a broken record, but North Shore has the
potential to increase these periods of strong, disciplined play. With an
increasing amount of veteran players, this is becoming more realistic every
week.
