Apologies for the lateness of this.

Those who represented NSRFC at the NY 7's tournament last weekend:

Kenny
T-bo (aka T-bone)
Rich
Vudu "blah"
Martin
Jessie
Tony
Dan
and we added Dan's friend Jackson to our side when we arrived in New York

While Jessie enjoyed the comforts of the Fung Wha bus to NY, the rest of us piled into a huge van and set out around noon on Friday.  For anyone who has not driven a 15 person van in midtown Manhattan on the busiest shopping day of the year, let me be the first to highly recommend you do so.

Saturday:
6 am wake up call...the Tournament check in begins @ 7:30am....but, our first game was @ 9:30...good times, good times.  Very windy cold day...makes you wish you brought a coat, right Tony?  Good thing we had our insulated team warm-ups, wait we didn't have our insulated team warm ups...my mistake.

Game #1 vs. Black Swan and NY team form the Hudson Valley area.  48-0 (W)

In fourteen minutes we managed to score forty-eight unanswered points.  Our pack pushed them all over the field and we completely dominated them for the entire game.

Scoring Tries:
Jessie
Rich
Dan
T-bo
Tony
Martin
Jackson (2)

Game #2 vs. Les Braves des Trios Rivers Quebec)  5-21 (L)
Ahhhh, the joys of playing against a foreign side.  In a stunning display of strategy North Shore decided to do the opposite of everything that worked in the first game.  North Shore lost to a very good team who spread the field and took advantage of numerous overloads.  Highlights included Martin being swatted aside by the large scrum half, Jessie playing hot potato with the bouncing ball, T-bo with the most impressive knock-on in team history and Vudu taking a massive hit then standing up and noticing that his uniform was now fluorescent yellow instead of red.

Tries:
Martin

Game #3 -- Plate Quarter Final vs. Ship of Fools (last years social division winners)
Rematch time:  This was the team that smacked us around last year in our first game.
This game was a see-saw battle that saw neither team taking an advantage during the first 13 minutes of the game.  the game was won when the pack gathered a ball and worked it to Rich on the wing who....amazingly beat his man to the corner to put down the winning score.
The Kiwi's were not happy, then again a kiwi is a small flightless bird, how would you feel?

Tries:
T-bo
Martin
Rich

Game #4 --Plate Semi Final vs. Dick Law
Best and worst game of the day:  North Shore played very hard, with all players cycling into the game and contributing to the game.  Unfortunately lapses in the defense made the difference in the game.  A very tough loss to take, but all-in-all an excellent effort.

Tries:
Jessie
Martin (2)

Sat night-Sunday Morning
Pre-game until 7:45, mock Vudu for his kilt (later seen to actually attract women, team briefly contemplates mass kilt order) ... go to drink up at "club vue", rest of team fails to notice that Tony turned away at door until an hour and a half later.  Meanwhile rest of team proceeds to rapidly descend into drunkenness

Half-of team goes to hotel to round up Tony and then gladly join Tony in putting bottle of wild turkey out of its misery, other half stays with intent of sticking tongues down mouth of willing female rugby players.  Team somehow manages to re-rendezvous at an Australian bar in Greenwich Village (Rich's choice), bar is full of gorgeous women and well dressed men...hmmmmmmm, ..approximately an hour later team reaches conclusion that maybe this is not the best bar for them and pours out of bar and announces intention to go somewhere else.

NSRFC deploys into two separate drinking battalions with Dan, Vudu and Kenny hitting the clubs and a knock off coyote ugly (ask ken about this), Vudu documents proceedings for posterity.  Rest of team goes to Germen beer hall to destroy remaining brain cells.  After many giant steins of beer the excitement proves to be to much for a member of the team who christens anther member with a spilt beer.

Most of the tea, straggles to hotel around 4-4:45am.  Wake up call @ 6 to drive back to Mass.

In conclusion:  A stunning showing by NSRFC
