Our Match Report

It was a picturesque day at Moakley Park in South Boston, temperature near 60, sunny with a slight sea breeze and a great matchup between NS and CR. With NS's last fall win in the minds of all, we thought for sure that NS would prevail but it would be a nail biter. Beginning with the first kickoff it was confirmed that NS had brought their 'A' game with them. The scrums were outstanding, consistently driving CR back on defensive put ins. Val, Shats, and Ian did a great job during piggy's picking up many meters at a time. The rucking on both sides of the ball was much improved from that of earlier matches this spring. Even with the narrow field, NS was able to spread the field, Diego and Hartigan were able find Jonah, Sully, and Garrett for some great runs and tries. Sean Mahoney had an absolute monster of a game running over a few would be tacklers. Ox, Scuderi, Wilkinson, Palmer, and Comeau again were always there to make the big stops. At the end of the first half, the score was 21-10 in favor of NS. The first part of the second half was shaky and some tempers came to a boil with multiple warnings to both sides. NS continued to assert their dominance shutting CR out in the second half and coming up with 19 unanswered points. With about 15 minutes to go NS relieved some of the starters, the backups were able to steady the ship from the first part of the half's rockiness and were relentless until the final whistle. At the final whistle the score was NS 40 and CR 10. The B side game was well matched and after two 20 minutes halves the score was still 0-0, the game may have concluded on the field but there was still a need to decide a victor. NS's B side prevailed at the drink up winning a 4 on 4 boat race. I would like to thank all of our supporters that made the trek down to Southie, especially Dan Solomon and Aussie Matt, it was great to have you both on our sideline.
