Referee's Official Match Report

Bright, cold, sunny afternoon for rugby to end the season. Both sides ran straight and hard at each other with good competition at the tackle. North Shore broke thru first as the contest went end to end. North Shore added three more tries to two for Freedom as their second was scored at the bell. The second half was just as frenetic, but neither side scored despite several incursions into the in-goal. Final, 29-12 to the visitors.

Our Match Report

North Shore looked to put last weeks loss behind them, as they traveled up to New Hampshire to face off against Freedom Rugby. The temperature was down in the 30's, but it didn't seem to slow the pace of the game, as both teams came out of the gates hitting hard.

Early in the first half it seemed to be all North Shore, as they kept Freedom pinned in their own end, and held possession. Throughout the match North Shore dominated in the scrums, which proved to be the determining factor in the game. As a result, they were able to find the try line (4) times, with scoring coming from Nick, Sully, Jeb, and Ben. Tim was also on point, slotting 3 out of 4 conversions and a penalty kick. Though the Red's seemed to be the better team, Freedom was able to find some weaknesses in their defense, scoring two tries in the end of the second half. Halftime score 29-12.

The second half was a back and forth defensive battle, with a few impressive goal-line stands, and a great play by Vandermass holding up a Freedom player in the try zone. The match ended with a final score of 29-12. Man of the match awards went to Chris Roberts, who was able to make a big impact in the scrums, and James "Sully" Sullivan for his ability to lead the backline, and get some points on the board.

This concluded the 2017 North Shore Fall season with a final record of 7-2, securing the 3rd place spot in NERFU, and another playoff opportunity in the spring.
